As you might have seen the Men were on ITV Central tonight talking about the need for a new shed to help them expand and better accommodate them here at the George Eliot Hospital. We’ve already had lots of lovely comments and emails so far.
If you’d like to make a donation towards this endeavour, we’ve set up a Localgiving page, you can chip-in by following the link here and clicking ‘donate now’ to choose the amount you’d like to donate. Any money you can give, even if it’s just 50p would be greatly appreciated and go towards ensuring the future and expansion of the group.
If you’d like to get in touch for more information or even to get involved with the group you can email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We look forward to hearing from you!
Barry and Alan hard at work on the new planter
The Men In Sheds are currently hard at work on a new project for the George Eliot hospital. The small road outside the hospital’s maternity wing is regularly clogged with vehicles blocking the buildings entrance, rather than closing off this road with ugly pillars of concrete the guys have been tasked with building 5 large wooden planters to keep the entrance free of traffic in a much more beautiful and green way. We’ll keep you up to date with the progress as they go along, and hopefully have an image gallery of the project from start to finish when they’re set up in their rightful place, plants and all!
Lynn loved her bird box & table. Did not love having her picture taken.
When nurse Lynn let ‘man in a shed’ Scott in to the hospital wing that homes Men in Sheds last week, she couldn’t help but be impressed by the bird box and table he’d been building in the work space. Being the kindly chap he is, Scott offered to build her a set of her own for a small fee, It took him a speedy 5 hours to make both and another 5 to paint, varnish and dry. With each item Scott makes he tries to make them slightly different each time so every person who orders them gets their own one of a kind design, which is special for them but also stops stops him getting bored! Of course the only thing he doesn’t change is the Men In Sheds signature so you know where it came from!
If you’d like to commission the Men in Sheds Nuneaton group to make you your own bespoke item, be it a bird table, planter or something else for the garden or home you can contact us at email@example.com. All proceeds go to Art Alert and the Men In Sheds for the buying of new equipment, material and the improvement of facilities for the group so you can enjoy your new item as well as the knowledge your money has gone towards a good cause!
Hello, Welcome to the new website for the Men In Sheds Nuneaton group. Set up in early 2015 through Nuneaton based arts charity Art Alert, Men In Sheds is a group aimed at retired and unemployed men in the Nuneaton and the local area with time on their hands, providing them with the opportunity to use and learn woodworking skills in a friendly, social environment and have the odd cuppa too.
Based in the courtyard at the George Eliot Hospital, Men In Sheds meets twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays 10am to 12pm to trade skills and use the tools in the workspace for personal and community projects.
So if this sounds like the sort of thing you or someone you might know might be interested in contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Obviously as a fledgling group any donations of material and equipment would also be greatly appreciated.
